In 2025, Vienna celebrates the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss II, the famous Waltz King. Strauss, who lived from 1825 to 1899, shaped the Viennese way of life with his waltzes and remains an international superstar to this day. His works, such as the Blue Danube Waltz and the operetta "Die Fledermaus," are world-renowned and have achieved cult status.
The jubilee year is themed "King of Waltz. Queen of Music" and offers a diverse program. From traditional concerts to innovative projects like augmented reality and premieres – all of Vienna becomes a stage for Strauss. Major Viennese music institutions and artists from all genres are involved, and events are held in all 23 districts of the city.
